What should be perfect riding gear?
Honestly, there isn’t one perfect setup for every rider. The right gear fits you, suits your ride and stays in good condition. Here’s how I’d check it, one piece at a time.
First, I start with the helmet. It should fit snugly, stay secure when fastened and give you a clear field of view. Check the fit and safety labels before riding.
Next, I check the protective gear. Make sure its armor sits over the joints it is designed to cover, then check the maker’s care guidance and applicable certification labels.
Then, I think about hands and feet. Gloves should let you operate the controls comfortably. Secure footwear and clothing that stays in place can help reduce exposed gaps.
Finally, I inspect everything before a ride. Check closures, seams and protective parts. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and replacement advice, especially after an impact.
